Artesans-ResQ Ukraine: Sept 2026
IIn September, ARQ continued to respond to high demand for complex critical care transport, with a continued focus on ICU Level 2–3, pediatric and neonatal, burn, long-distance, and targeted evacuation cases. Joint Medevac missions with national partners remained an important part of operations. ARQ also continued to strengthen national CCT capacity through training for medical professionals from across Ukraine.
August Highlights
45 missions completed: intensive care support (ICU levels 2 and 3) was required for all patients
9 pediatric and 2 neonatal cases were successfully transported, continuing an upward demand trend
9 burn patients successfully evacuated
19 long-distance transfers and 12 targeted evacuations were completed, with 3 missions implemented in close cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine
Total transportation time: 276 hours and 47 minutes
Total distance covered by our team in September: 39,579 km
Case Study #1: Child’s Shrapnel wound
ARQ transported a three-year-old child with a shrapnel injury to the cervical spine from Dnipro to Lviv. Due to impaired spontaneous breathing and severe neurological symptoms, the child required prolonged respiratory support.
During the 12+ hour transfer, the team maintained medically induced sleep with synchronized mechanical ventilation, and the child was safely delivered to a specialized hospital in Lviv.
Case Study #2: Respiratory Failure
ARQ safely transported a 65-year-old patient with severe bilateral polysegmental pneumonia. Upon assessment, the team identified severe respiratory failure and decided to intubate the patient and initiate invasive mechanical ventilation with sedation before departure. During the transfer, the team managed to improve lung ventilation and stabilize the patient’s condition. The patient was then safely handed over to Mechnikov Hospital in Dnipro.

Case Study #3: Training for Medical Professionals
In September, ARQ continued its series of CCT Provider training courses, with a training held on 25–27 September in Ternopil. A total of 20 medical professionals from 7 regions completed the course, strengthening their knowledge and practical skills in the stabilization and safe transport of critically ill patients. ARQ is grateful to Ternopil National Medical University for its support and assistance in organizing the training.

Sharing Experience Internationally
An important part of Artesans-ResQ mission is to share our unique experiences in CCT and ALS procedures with other countries and medical professionals.
On 26 – 30 September 2026, Illia Bilokonov, ARQ’s CEO, participated in the Emergency Medical Team Coordination Training Course on CBRN, Burns and MEDEVAC in Muscat, Oman. The course combined expert discussions, practical exercises and simulations, bringing together professionals from several countries to exchange experience in emergency response, burn care and medical evacuation
